What are Social Bookmarks?

Social Bookmarks allow users to identify websites that are helpful to them and save them in a public forum so that they can be sorted by keyword and shared with anyone.  Search Engines use social bookmarks to help determine page ranking.  So if you get value from a website, bookmark it as a way of saying “Thanks for the free Info!”.
